The School of International Education, YCIT held the activity of “Experiencing China: Pottery Artistry” on April 2. Mr. Sun Yijie, professor from the School of Design and Art led over 40 students from Thailand, Pakistan, Bangladesh, South Korea, and other countries to participate in this activity, experiencing unique charm of traditional Chinese craftsmanship.

Through introductions to the history of ceramics, hands-on experiences, and artwork displays, Mr. Sun showcased the long history and charm of ceramic art. Under Mr. Sun's guidance, the international students personally experienced the entire ceramic-making process, from kneading the clay and throwing the pots to shaping. They all successfully completed their own works. During the artwork display and sharing session, teachers and students jointly admired the completed ceramic pieces, and the international students actively shared their creative inspirations. They expressed that through this event, they not only mastered the basic techniques of ceramics but also deeply understood the philosophical wisdom and artistic value inherent in traditional Chinese handicrafts.

This ceramic experience event was one of the series of activities in "Discover China in Yancheng: A Vibrant Cultural Adventure 2025" for international students at YCIT. This series of events was meticulously planned by the School of International Education, aiming to help international students perceive the unique charm of traditional Chinese culture through diverse cultural experiences in a comprehensive and multi-faceted way. In the future, a variety of cultural experience courses including Chinese painting, calligraphy, and paper-cutting will be successively launched. These will continuously deepen the concept of "cultural education" and promote exchange and mutual learning between Chinese and foreign civilizations, enabling international students to truly understand and fall in love with China through immersive experiences.
