The School of Foreign Languages, established in July 2013, serves as an examination center for the English Test for International Communication (ETIC) and the National Foreign Trade Qualification Exam, as well as a training center. It is also a Research and Practice Base for Intercultural Teaching and Assessment, and an International Communication Base for universities and colleges in Yancheng. The school is equipped with 12 digital language laboratories and comprises the Department of English, Department of Japanese, Department of International Cooperation Languages, Department of General English I, II, and III, and the Foreign Language Experimental Center.
The school currently employs 94 staff members, including several faculty members selected for the "Blue Project" for young academic leaders in Jiangsu Province, as well as candidates for the "Six Talent Peaks" high-level talent training program. Twenty-seven teachers have received university-level outstanding awards, and nine have been named "Most Popular Teachers" at Yancheng Institute of Technology. The school has also appointed renowned experts and scholars from Nanjing University, Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, and Veritas & Mercurius Publishing Ltd as adjunct professors. The faculty team is highly qualified, and its development prospects are promising.
In recent years, the School has secured over 10 national and provincial-level research projects, including those funded by the National Social Science Fund of China and the Humanities and Social Science Fund of the Ministry of Education. Faculty members have published more than 50 high-level papers in SSCI and CSSCI indexed journals, and authored or translated over 20 academic monographs. The school has established 5 university-affiliated research institutions, actively advancing the development of high-level academic teams. It also regularly organizes foreign language forums, inviting renowned professors from Nanjing University, Nanjing Normal University, Soochow University to deliver academic lectures.
Teaching quality has steadily improved, with a one-time pass rate of 80.22% for the TEM-4 (Test for English Majors Band 4) and 82.26% for the TEM-8 (Test for English Majors Band 8). Over the past five years, students have been approved for 12 national-level and 24 provincial-level projects under the University Student Innovation and Entrepreneurship Training Program.
The school organizes students to participate annually in various academic competitions, including speech, writing, translation, and short video contests. Over the past five years, students have won more than 500 provincial-level awards of third prize or above. Notably, students secured one silver medal and one bronze medal in the National Foreign Language Competition for College Students — "FLTRP·ETIC Cup" and "Understanding Contemporary China." They also won the Special Prize in the National English Competition for College Students (NECCS) for three consecutive years. In addition, they claimed a provincial third prize in the 18th "Challenge Cup" National College Student Extracurricular Academic Science and Technological Works Competition. Furthermore, in the 7th National Foreign Language Proficiency Competition for College Students (Japanese Group), students achieved three Special Prizes.
Over the past five years, a total of 95 students from the School of Foreign Languages have been admitted to master's programs at prestigious universities both at home and abroad. Among them, 52 students (32.3%) were admitted to key institutions, including Project 985 and Project 211 universities. Additionally, 14 students were admitted to universities ranked among the top 200 in the QS World University Rankings. The school has been repeatedly recognized with honors such as "Outstanding Group for Graduate Admission Work," " Outstanding Group for Employment Work," " Outstanding Group for Enrollment Work," and the "Excellence Award for Teaching and Learning Atmosphere Construction." The Class of 2024 from the School of Foreign Languages includes 137 graduates, 22 of whom have been admitted to well-known universities in China and abroad, including Nanjing University of Aeronautics and Astronautics, Northeast Forestry University, Chengdu University, Shanghai University of International Business and Economics, and the University of Birmingham.

The Japanese program was established in 2008. Centered on the goal of cultivating distinctive, application-oriented talent, the program highlights a unique educational model of "Japanese and Applied Scientific and Technical Translation."
