The history of the School of Economics and Management can be traced back to the management Engineering Department of the former Yancheng Industrial College and the Economic Management Department of the former Yancheng Vocational University. In May 1996, after the former State Education Commission approved the merger of the two schools to establish Yancheng Institute of Technology, in December, the management engineering department and the economic management department of the former two schools were merged to form the Department of Business Administration. In March 2000, The People's Government of Jiangsu Province approved the merging of Yancheng Accounting School into Yancheng Institute of Technology, and merged with the Department of Business Administration to form the School of Business Administration. In August 2004, the school was renamed as The School of Economics and Management. In December 2014, the School of Economics and Management was divided into two parts: School of Management and School of Economics. In November 2017, school of Management and School of Economics merged to form School of Economics and Management.
Colleges in five major departments: management science and engineering, business administration, accounting, finance, international economy and trade, nine undergraduate majors: information management and information systems, e-commerce, logistics management, business management, marketing, accounting, financial management, financial engineering, and international economy and trade, including: The discipline of Management Science and Engineering is a key discipline of Jiangsu Province, the discipline of financial management is a provincial first-class discipline, and the discipline of business administration is a key discipline of the university. In 2019, there were 2,812 full-time undergraduate students. There are 111 faculty and staff members, including 18 professors, 49 associate professors (associate professors), 38 doctoral students (including 10 students) and 102 master degree or above, accounting for 92% of the total number of faculty and staff. There are 7 senior outstanding talents of "333 Project", "Qinglan Project" and "Six Talent Peak Plan" of Jiangsu Province, 1 outstanding talent of "New Century 111 Project" of Yancheng, and more than 40 teachers of "double-qualified". The college also employs 20 part-time professors from well-known universities at home and abroad.
