School of Mechanical Engineering, Yancheng Institute of Technology (HEREINAFTER referred to as The School of Mechanical Engineering) was founded in 1996 from Department of Mechanical Engineering, Yancheng Technical College and Department of Mechanical Engineering, Yancheng Vocational University. In order to promote the reform of education and teaching, youji College was established in 2005. In July 2013, The College of Mechanical Engineering and The College of Excellence merged.

The college began to enroll junior college students of mechanism major in 1958 and undergraduate students in 1996. Now there are 8 departments of mechanical design, manufacturing and automation, Process Equipment and Control engineering, mechanical basic course group, experiment center and engineering training center. There are 119 faculty and staff members, including 13 professors, 46 associate professors, 53 doctors (including students), 2 provincial famous teachers, 1 provincial moral mode l, 6 provincial "333 High-level Talents Training Project", 3 provincial "Qinglan Project" trans-century academic leader training candidates, and more than 3000 undergraduate students. The employment rate in recent years is 100%.
